SUMMERVILLE, S.C. - Robert James Bare, Jr. 61, died Sunday, March 6, 2016.

Master Sgt. Robert J. Bare, Jr., 61, of Summerville, South Carolina, passed away Sunday March 6, 2016 at the Hospice of Charleston. He was a veteran of Vietnam, Operation Desert Shield and Storm.

Mr. Bare, a Navy "Brat," was born on January 7, 1955, in Ancón, Panamá, to USN Lt. Cmdr. Robert J. Bare (Ret.) and Betty Ann Phillips. He was enlisted into the U.S. Air Force by his father on February 13, 1974 where he served for 22 years as a F-4/ F-16 Tactical Aircraft Craftsman, PARPRO Superintendent, and Squadron Resource Advisor. He distinguished himself and thus earned the Meritorious Service Metal, Air Force Commendation Medal, Air Force Achievement Medal, and National Defense Service Medal. On November 22, 1975 he married Maria de los Angeles Horche in Barajas Madrid, Spain, they had two children Ricardo and Christina. On October 14, 1994 he married Maria J. Lorente in Ogden, Utah and had one child Robert.

He passed from this life, after a brief battle with sarcoma cancer, on Sunday March 6, 2016 at the Hospice of Charleston. Robert was an Assistant Scoutmaster, an avid bass fisherman, enjoyed model trains, video gaming and sharing his views. In 1989 he attended the NCO Academy, and while attending Trident Technical College he earned his GED in 2013 as well as a Certificate in Applied Science – A+/Network+ in 2014.

Surviving to cherish his memory is his wife of 22 years, Maria J. Bare of Summerville, S.C.; mother Betty Ann Bare, sister Karen S. Kocik both of Charlottesville, Va.; son Ricardo A. Bare and wife Angie of Liberty Hill, Texas; daughter Christina M. Roberson and husband Charlie of Joshua, Texas; son Robert J. Bare, III of Summerville, S.C.; nephew Christopher Schaefer, niece Patricia Schaefer, and grandchildren, Sophia, Soren, Matthew, and Katie. Mr. Bare is preceded in death by his father Robert James Bare and grandson Michael Anthony Roberson.

A celebration of life service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Mar 19, at the Parks Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. John Scott officiating. Burial will be at the Beaufort National Cemetery, Beaufort, South Carolina at a later date.
